I love Los Angeles. I know a lot of people who go there and they see just a huge sprawl of sameness. But when you’re there for a while, you realize that each section has its own mood. The golden age of cinema is still alive there, in the smell of jasmine at night and the beautiful weather.
– David Lynch
A lot LA bashing out there, but both David Lynch and Werner Herzog have kind words for the city of angles. This was published around 2006 or so, which leaves me wondering, would Lynch still write the golden age of cinema is still alive? Another LA artist that comes to mind is David Hockney, who moved on. Shoot even Agnes Varda spent time in LA.
There’s something there.
